Since Summer began, we’ve been eating burgers at least once a week. Are we tired of them yet? Nope, never! My husband especially enjoys my burgers, and he gets excited when I make them.
This burger was no exception! In fact, he even came up with the name for this burger. So what exactly is a Slaw-Ter Burger? It’s basically a burger with teriyaki sauce in and on the burger with slaw on top. Originally I was just going to simply call it Teriyaki Turkey Burgers, but my husband and I both decided that this burger deserved a better name.
Do you like messy burgers? Then this one is perfect for you! Not only are they messy, but they are also tasty, and of course can’t forget healthy.
Slaw Ter Turkey Burgers
1 lb Ground Turkey
1/4 Cup Yellow Onion, chopped finely
1 Cup Homemade Teriyaki Sauce
1/2 tsp. Freshly Grated Ginger
Salt & Pepper, to taste
4 Pineapple Rings
1 Red Onion, cut into thick rings
GF Hamburger Buns
In a bowl, mix together the ground turkey, yellow onion, 2 tbsp. teriyaki sauce, ginger, salt, and pepper. Form the meat into 4 patties and set aside.
Heat up your grill to medium high heat.
Brush the pineapple rings and onion rings with a little bit of olive oil, salt, and pepper. Place the pineapple and onions onto the grill. Grill for 3-5 min. per side.
When the pineapple and onions are done grilling, remove them from the grill and set aside. Place the Slaw-Ter burgers onto the grill. Grill the burgers for 5-7 min per side. Be sure to brush the teriyaki sauce on the burgers frequently during the cooking process.
