Welcome to Wholly Revived
Hello there! And welcome to Wholly Revived! My name is Val, a thirty something Gluten Free foodie, and I am also the recipe developer, author, head eater, and picture taker here at Wholly Revived. I thought I’d give you the low down on me in case you were interested!
I have been married to the man of my dreams for a decade
We currently reside in Iowa with our growing, rambunctious Shih tzu, Asher. Isn’t he adorable?
I am a self taught cook and self proclaimed foodie and I take healthy cooking and eating seriously. I love to experiment with fresh ingredients and fragrant herbs to make the most of each meal. I take comfort in knowing that what I’m eating is improving my health. I am also passionate about healing through nutrition, holistic medicine, effective ways for naturally treating anxiety & self care. I have been living Gluten Free for 7+ years and I haven’t let that stop me from creating healthy and delicious recipes in my kitchen. I have spent years trying to figure out my own health issues and that is why I eat Gluten Free. You can learn more about My Healing Journey here.
When I’m not spending time in the kitchen you can usually find me enjoying a good book, hanging out on Pinterest, watching one of my favorite shows on Netflix, hanging out with my husband and Asher, or creating jewelry.
My faith is also an important part of my life! I am a born again Christian who is whole heartedly, head over heels in love with the Lord. The Bible is my go to place for comfort. You can expect to read about the lessons that I’ve been learning throughout my life as a a born again Christian.

About Wholly Revived
The mission of Wholly Revived is to provide practical principles and tools as well as life giving encouragement on your journey towards experiencing a revival of wholeness through being a good steward of food, faith, and well-being.

What You’ll Find On Wholly Revived:
For many years I struggled with my weight and my health and it was all because of the foods I was putting into my body. I ate a lot of fast food, boxed dinners, and just pure junk! All of this unhealthy eating led to many digestive problems, poor energy, and low immune function. In 2009, my life changed for the better when I went Gluten Free. You can read more about my healing journey here. Every single recipe found on Wholly Revived is made with healthy wholesome ingredients without losing any of the flavor! All recipes that you find here are 100% Gluten Free & Dairy Free with a few Paleo options. I believe in using minimal processed/refined foods and sugars. The overall goal of my recipes is to make healthy eating approachable, simple and enjoyable so that anyone can lead a healthy, happy, balanced life. I believe that food should taste good but also should be nourishing to our bodies.
My faith and my relationship with God is an important part of my life. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without His love and AMAZING GRACE! Without Him we wouldn’t even have food to keep us healthy.
Each Friday I like to share a Wholly Revived Devotional on the blog. The devotionals and other faith based posts that you find here have all been inspired by my personal Bible journal entries which range in topic from your thoughts to studying God’s word. They provide real life inspiration that is meant to encourage, inspire, uplift, and “revive” you.
I want to help you become your best self on the inside and out! Beyond food, I also believe in taking a holistic approach to overall health and wellness. God has called each of us to be a good steward of all the resources he has provided us with and that includes our bodies.
I am also passionate about teaching others about anxiety and how you can effectively treat anxiety by using a holistic approach and using self care. Summer 2016 was life changing for me because I was diagnosed with anxiety and this battle has made me a better person. Through the help of a counselor, seeking help from the Lord, and using a natural approach, I can proudly say that I am thriving! I still struggle and I still have bad days, but I am learning to manage it. My anxiety has taught me that I need to take better care of myself in every aspect of my life.
Wholly Revived is a place where I hope to share what God has taught me both spiritually and physically over the years to reach a healthy balance. I hope that as I share what He has poured into me, that you will be refreshed and REVIVED with the great love and plan that He has for you!
